On November 28, 2024, the mandatory national standard Safety Technical Code for Chlorine in Chemical Enterprises (GB 11984-2024)
was officially issued and will be effective from August 1, 2025, fully replacing the 2008 edition of Safety Regulation for Chlorine (GB
11984-2008).
Addressing the hazardous properties of chlorine, such as being highly toxic, strongly corrosive, and oxidizing, the new standard further
strengthens safety technical requirements. In particular, Section 4.3.3 clearly stipulates: "Chlorine equipment and pipelines shall use
dedicated valves and sealing gaskets with resistance to chlorine, pressure, and temperature."

Chlorine is highly corrosive under moist conditions and can readily attack both metallic and non-metallic materials. The use of
standard valves or ordinary gaskets may lead to corrosion-induced failure during long-term operation, resulting in leaks that can cause
severe accidents such as poisoning or explosions. Therefore, the new standard specifically emphasizes the selection of sealing
materials with excellent chlorine resistance and chemical stability, such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), modified PTFE, or filled PTFE,
which must also meet corresponding pressure and temperature ratings.
Regarding valves, although the standard does not explicitly define "dedicated valves," it structurally specifies that valves with a dual-
seal design should be selected. This is typically achieved by combining bellows seals with packing seals to ensure "zero leakage"
control of chlorine media.
Take the Wanlong Chlorine Service Bellows Globe Valve as an example. This valve is specifically developed for chlorine-containing
media. In terms of materials, it can be tailored according to the specific medium to assist customers in selecting the appropriate
material. Structurally, it adopts a dual-seal configuration combining bellows sealing and packing sealing to guarantee zero-leakage
performance.
It has obtained multiple certifications including SIL 3 (Safety Integrity Level) certification, TA-Luft (zero leakage) certification, ISO
15848 Class A certification, and API 6FA fire safety certification. It is a chlorine-dedicated bellows valve that fully complies with the
requirements of the new standard.
